Artist Statement
Justin Edwards is an Atlanta-based multidisciplinary artist and MFA Painting candidate whose work merges physicality, performance, and abstraction. Drawing from his background in boxing and movement, he creates large-scale action paintings using raw canvas, house paint, gloves, and the body itself as a tool. His practice explores duality—discipline and chaos, violence and creation—transforming acts of impact into expressive visual language. By collapsing the boundaries between sport and studio, object and process, his work reframes painting as an ongoing, embodied experience that reflects resilience, labor, and the pursuit of self-mastery
